Tessa's, a young woman from America, embarked on a trip to see her brother in England. This trip that was supposed to be relaxing, turns into a nightmare. Tessa is taken by the mysterious Dark Sisters and forced to learn how to change forms. Mortman, a business man with a secret past, plans to use Tessa's powers for his own profit. Luckily Tessa finds solitude with the Shadowhunters from the London Institute. But Tessa is insane to think Mortman would give up on her and her powers
This book is just as amazing as Clare's first series The Mortal Instruments. I also love this book because it gives insite into the past of the shadowhunters and the beginnings of the Mortal Instruments. Also, I like how it is set back in a different time so that we can see how things were shaped based on the time frame in history. Overall the book is amazing and I highly recommend it.
I would recommend this book to teens and adults mostly. It has some situations and demons that could scare younger children. I don't think this book would necessarily be bad for children as long as they can cope with the "scary" aspects of it. I would recommend this book for anyone, but more so for adults and teens.

The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Lost Souls (#5) - Cassandra Clare
I liked this book a lot. However it left me a bit confused. I think it is the end of the book series, yet it left some questions unexplained. Regardless, I found this book amazing and would gladly read it again any day.

The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Fallen Angels (#4) - Cassandra Clare
Finally everything is going well. The Mortal War is over, Clary has a new boyfriend, and her mother is finally getting married to her love. But this was only the eye in the storm. Clary becomes aware of the random slaughtering of shadow hunters throughout the city. Soon Clary finds that this mystery is more complex than she though, but it all starts with her.
I loved this book as well! It shows how hectic her life really is. Along with this, it shows how strong Clary really is. Also, it seems to tie back into the earlier books which makes it easier to understand. Once again Clare has created a beautifully written book that will keep you guessing until the end.

The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Glass (#3) - Cassandra Clare
Clary would do anything to save her mother, even if the punishment may be death. She is brought to the City of Glass on her epic journey to save her mother. If anyone found out about her sneaking in, it would mean death. Not only is Simon in jail, but Jace shows that he doesn't want her to be there. Dealing with emotional turmoil, she finds Sebastian who may just be the key to saving the City of Glass.
This book was amazing. It tied in all the important parts to a great story. Also, it begins to shed light on Clary and her past which made me even more engrossed into the book. The appearance of the character Sebastian adds just adds to the tension of the book. Overall, I think that everyone should read it.

The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Ashes (#2) - Cassandra Clare
Clary is frustrated with her newfound world. Not only is her mother in a magically induced coma, but she has just learned that the beautiful shadow hunter named Jace is her brother. All Clary wants is to have her old life back with Simon by her side. But Clary is forced on yet another journey to try to save her mother by finding her possibly insane father Valentine.
I loved this book. It has so many twists and turns, while fully engrossing you into Clary's feelings. You really feel like you are a part of the shadow hunter clan, just observing all of their actions. Also, you can almost feel the infuriating situations that Clary has to go though. This is probably the only book series that has made me feel fearful for the protagonist, and actually liked it! I think its a great book for anyone to read.

The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Bones (#1) - Cassandra Clare
Clary Fray was just a normal teenage girl, or so she thought. Clary begins to witness things that her best friend, Simon, can't seem to see. After witnessing a man killed at the pandemonium club, a strangely beautiful man begins to follow her. She soon finds out that this man is named Jace, and he is a shadow hunter. Clary's world is turned upside down when she gets a paniked call from her mother telling her not to come home. She must now set out with the shadow hunters to find her destiny and save her mother.
I loved this book. It is a gripping adventure story that never seems to tire. Many times people will think that these fantasy stories are a bit overdone and boring. For this book, its the exact opposite. I have never read anything like this book, and I absolutely LOVED it. It is an amazing book for anyone.
I would recommend this book to teens and adults mostly. It could be read by the younger readers, but it may be a bit much for them. Also this book series has a lot of terms that may be difficult for the younger readers to remember. Other than this, I think it is a great book for anyone to read.

Life of Pi - Yann Martel
This book took me FOREVER to read. I admit, in the beginning of the book, I absolutely hated it. The whole first half of the story is about how Pi found religion. Along with this, it talked of random zoo animals that made no reappearance in the story. However, I am glad I stuck with the book. Once the book actually got to the shipwreck, I loved it. It was amazingly written and never seemed to have a dull moment. It also had a crazy twist at the end that is still making me wonder what is true and what isn't. Overall, I think this book is a good read, you just have to get through the boring beginning.
I think this book would be better for older teens and adults. It uses a lot of references and scientific ideas that make it hard to read. However, if you make it though the beginning, it becomes easier to read and a much better story.
This book's rating 6/10
( I wish I could give this book a higher rating, but I can't because I didn't like most of the first half)
