The Mortal Instruments Series - City of Ashes (#2) - Cassandra Clare

Clary is frustrated with her newfound world. Not only is her mother in a magically induced coma, but she has just learned that the beautiful shadow hunter named Jace is her brother. All Clary wants is to have her old life back with Simon by her side. But Clary is forced on yet another journey to try to save her mother by finding her possibly insane father Valentine.

I loved this book. It has so many twists and turns, while fully engrossing you into Clary's feelings. You really feel like you are a part of the shadow hunter clan, just observing all of their actions. Also, you can almost feel the infuriating situations that Clary has to go though. This is probably the only book series that has made me feel fearful for the protagonist, and actually liked it! I think its a great book for anyone to read.

I would recommend this book to teens and adults mostly. It has some situations and demons that could scare younger children. I don't think this book would necessarily be bad for children as long as they can cope with the "scary" aspects of it. I would recommend this book for anyone, but more so for adults and teens.
